Deferred Compensation
Optional plan available for retirement planning to full-time employees.  The program is paid by employee contribution (no city contributions).  An employee may choose one of two companies providing deferred compensation programs. Using, this program the employee may set aside an amount from his or her paycheck to be invested for retirement. This program is optional and is effective immediately upon hire.

Long-Term Disability
City  funded for full-time employees.  This plan provides coverage to replace a portion of income, if an employee becomes disabled.  Coverage is effective after 31 days of service.

Emergency Leave
Funded by City for full-time employees.  Employees may take a maximum of five (5) days per occurrence, if needed, for death in the immediate family.  This is effective immediately with department head approval.

Family and Medical Leave
This is an unpaid leave available to full-time and part-time employees who have been employed by the City for at least 12 months, and who have worked for at least 1250 hours during the 12 month prior immediately before the beginning of the leave.

Flexible Spending Account
Optional program available to full-time employees.  Paid by employee contribution.   An FSA offers tax savings by withholding  pre-tax income from each  paycheck for reimbursement of eligible health and dependent care expenses.  This is effective the first day of the month following completion of 31 consecutive days of service.

Holidays
Funded by the City for full-time employees.  Employees receive eight paid holidays per year.  Holiday pay is effective immediately upon hire.

Jury Duty
City funded for full-time employees.  Employee receives full salary if serving on jury duty while scheduled to work.  This is effective immediately upon hire.

Life Insurance
City funded for full-time employees.   This insurance pays twice the employees salary, not to exceed $50,000.  Life insurance coverage is effective after 31 days of service.  Optional supplemental life and AD&D coverage is available to full-time employees and their dependents.

Longevity
City funded for full-time employees.    Longevity is paid at $4.00 per month for each full year of service.  This is effective after the end of the first year of employment, and paid annually in November.

Medical and Dental Insurance
City funded PPO coverage for full-time employees.  This plan becomes effective after 31 days of service.  Employees pay a small monthly premium for this coverage. Employee paid group medical and dental coverage is available to dependents of full-time employees who subscribe to this group insurance.

Prescription Plan
A city funded prescription plan is included with medical/dental coverage for full-time employees.  This plan is also available to their covered dependents.  Coverage is effective after 31 days of service.

Retirement Plan (TMRS)
City and employee funded plan for full-time employees and some qualified part-time employees.  This retirement program is provided by Texas Municipal Retirement System.   Employee contributions to the plan are tax deferred under Section 401 of the IRS Code.  Effective immediately upon hire.

Sick Leave
Funded by the City for full-time employees.  The employee earns 10 hours each month with unlimited accrual.   Accrual begins upon hire.

Social Security
City and employee funded plan.   The city matches the employees contributions to his/her Social Security Account.  This is effective immediately upon hire.

Vacation
Funded by the City for full-time employees as indicated below: 

LENGTH OF SERVICE HOURS EARNED
7 - 12 months of employment 6 2/3 hours vacation per month  
13th month - 14 years 10 hour vacation per month
after completion of 14 years and thereafter 13 1/3 hour vacation per month

Wellness Program
Funded by the City.  This program is effective immediately, for all employees, and offers guidance on exercise, nutrition, stress management, etc.
