HOURS:
A normal duty week is 56 hours (24 hour shift, 48 hours off). However, employees may be assigned to any duties at any time that may require an alternate work schedule.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT:
The Richardson Fire Department furnishes uniforms and protective equipment.

TRAINING:

Apprentice Fire Fighters will attend a fire recruit training academy at the Richardson Fire Department Training Center. All candidates must successfully pass the fire academy training program and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certification Exam, as well as become certified or maintain certification as a Paramedic through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Additional job training will occur based on the needs of the department.

CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

A. VACATION:
Length of Service Accrual Rate

0 - 6 months none
7-12 months 6 2/3 hours per month
13 months - 14 years 10 hours per month
After completion of 14 years 13 1/3 hours per month

B. SICK LEAVE:
Employees earn 10 hours each month with unlimited accrual. Accrual begins upon hire date.

C. HOLIDAYS:
The following days will be observed as legal holidays for all City employees: New Year's Day - January 1st; Martin Luther King Day – Third Monday in January; Memorial Day - Last Monday in May; Independence Day - July 4th; Labor Day - 1st Monday in September; Thanksgiving Day - 4th Thursday in November; Day after Thanksgiving Day - 4th Friday in November; Christmas - December 25th. At the discretion of the City Manager, a floating holiday will be designated for September 11th.

H. RETIREMENT PROGRAM: 7% of full salary withheld; two-to-one matching by the City upon retirement through Texas Municipal Retirement System

I. LONGEVITY: $4.00 per month for each full year of service completed, following the first year of hire.

J. INCENTIVE PAY: Certification, Education, Language, Paramedic Patch and Ambulance pay.

K. MUNICIPAL CIVIL SERVICE SYSTEM PROMOTIONS: Based on merit, efficiency, seniority and examination.
