The City of Richardson has been named the nation’s 10th Best City for First-Time Home Buyers in a recent study from the leading personal finance outlet WalletHub.com.

WalletHub compared the 300 largest U.S. cities to determine the ones that are most and least attractive to first-time home buyers and used 17 key metrics to assess each community’s affordability, real estate market and community environment. The metrics employed ranged from median household income adjusted for cost of living and housing affordability, to crime rates and the availability of jobs. Richardson rated highly on many of these measures, contributing to its overall top-10 ranking.

“This recognition reinforces what we have always known – that Richardson is a great place for those looking to find and secure a piece of the American dream – homeownership,” said Richardson Mayor Laura Maczka. “Richardson truly offers a great quality of life, with outstanding neighborhoods and infrastructure, a relatively low cost of living, highly rated educational institutions, a collaborative and financially sound municipal government, a rich array of parks and recreational opportunities, a strong tech-savvy business community, and an engaged citizenry. We look forward to welcoming others who choose to call Richardson ‘home.’”
