Richardson’s water delivery system holds the designation of Superior Public Water System by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). This designation indicates that Richardson’s public water supply exceeds minimum standards set to supply and maintain a safe source of drinking water in the community. The requirements include water quality, treatment, pumping and storage capacity.
The City of Richardson also commissions annual Consumer Confidence Reports on the quality of the City's water and facilitates water sampling to meet standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Texas Water Development Board.
