Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC)

The City has seen an increase in BABIC calls with the onset of spring. To help crews meet this new demand, residents are asked to “Think Big” by only requesting BABIC when there is a sufficient amount of material to require a truck to haul the waste.

Items weighing 50 or more pounds, such as large furniture or appliances, should be set out for BABIC. Small piles of brush, lawn clippings and anything else weighing less than 50 lbs. should be disposed of through regular twice per week solid waste collection.

Holiday Schedule
The City of Richardson schedules holiday make-up days for recycling collection. No holiday make-up days are provided for regular trash, commercial or BABIC.

Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC)
This service helps residents dispose of large amounts of brush or oversized items like unwanted appliances or furniture that cannot be placed out for regular trash collection.

What Can Be Recycled?
Recycling helps prevent nearly 86.9 million tons of material from being disposed of in the US each year. Help prevent unnecessary waste by recycling approved empty, clean and dry items.

Compost & Mulch
Composting or mulching your food scraps and yard waste will decrease the amount of trash Richardson sends to the landfill by 20-30%. Learn how you can help keep these materials out of landfills.
