West Prairie Creek Project Updates:

  • Construction is complete.
  • All paving has been complete and all lanes are now open
  • Final restoration work and the completion of some miscellaneous items is underway.

Prairie Creek Park Project Updates:

  • Work to Begin Soon on Prairie Creek Park
  • In conjunction with the construction project, the Parks and Recreation Department will be working to restore and improve Prairie Creek Park. Planned improvements include re-planting landscape beds at the covered bridge and at the Arborcrest bridge, tree trimming throughout the park, planting new trees in the park, and constructing new concrete trail between Collins and Arborcrest.


Latest News

Construction for West Prairie Creek started in late August 2022. Construction is expected to be complete in April 2024, with some additional time needed for restoration of the park. Completion was pushed back due to unexpected concrete work that is needed for the road base.

Work includes paving improvements, underground utility and drainage improvements, curb extensions at Lookout Drive, and parking enhancements on West Prairie Creek Drive.

The West Prairie Creek Drive Rehabilitation Project from West Campbell Road to North Collins Boulevard is part of the City of Richardson’s 2015 Bond Program that was approved by the voters.

End of Construction First Quarter 2024

    1. WPC Bridge Rehab-new rails similar to Custer Road bridge
    2. Erosion mitigation at Park

Project Scope

Update as of 8/9/2022:

  • Scope of work updated per community meeting held on 7/20/21
  • Road is no longer being widened
  • Mill and overlay will replace current road with a new road with same cross section and width
  • Sewer lines will be rehabbed with Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) technology
  • Waterlines will be replaced with new lines
  • Drainage pipes will be upgraded to current City standard
  • New parking signs and parking restrictions to be added
  • Additional crosswalks will be added to make crossing WPC easier
  • Lookout drive intersection will be rebuilt to ease pedestrian crossing
  • Additional parking signage and striping will be added on Lookout
