Arts and Music Festival turned out to cheer on the Festival this morning outside WFAA-TV Channel 8’s studios in Dallas’ Victory Park, as the station’s “Daybreak” show featured the Festival. Not only did fans hold up signs and cheer loudly, Wildflower! 2017 Bud Light Stage band “A Hard Night’s Day” performed on camera and the J.J. Pearce Stampede, a Country and Western dance group scheduled to perform at the Festival’s AMLI Performance Row, provided some “wild west” feats of strength. This is the third year for WFAA to provide TV coverage of Wildflower! fans during “Daybreak” on the opening day of the Festival. Work Begins in “Final Five” Sidewalk Regions Sidewalk replacement work funded by the 2015 Bond Program got underway this week, with repairs beginning in the Cottonwood Heights neighborhood. The area is one of five designated in the Bond Program that will share $2.2 million for sidewalk replacement, the last of 27 regions to receive repairs that were identified and ranked in a 2003 citywide sidewalk inventory. Sidewalks were ranked according to identified sidewalk repair needs, and work on the highest priority sidewalks was funded with the 2006 Bond Program. The 2010 Bond Program also funded sidewalk repairs. For more information on the 2015 Bond Program and a map of all sidewalk repair regions, click here. For information on Richardson’s Sidewalk Rehabilitation Program, visit www.cor.net/sidewalks. Southbound Lanes on Duck Creek Bridge Redirected for Near Future City engineers will close and redirect southbound lanes of traffic on the Duck Creek Bridge beginning Monday, May 22 out of an abundance of caution after a state inspection showed significant erosion around one of the bridge’s structural supports. The bridge is located on Yale Boulevard between Drake Drive and Apollo Road. Minor construction on the northbound side of the bridge began this week in preparation for the closure, with the median being cut to create a concrete transition lane to move southbound traffic to the northbound side. In addition, bike lanes will be removed for the duration of the project. (Please remember, bicyclists are allowed to access regular traffic lanes.) Traffic on the bridge will be restricted until redesign and repair of the bridge’s support has completed, which could take several months. Weather may delay the preparation work for Monday’s closure by a few days. For more information, call or e-mail Henry Drexel at 972-744-4278, henry.drexel@cor.gov. You can also visit www.cor.net/projects for repair updates. Miss Texas Pageant Approaches Miss Texas Caroline Carothers braved windy weather this week as she joined Mayor Paul Voelker near the Eisemann Center to place the first 2017 Miss Texas sign topper that heralds the approaching pageant. The remainder of the sign toppers will be installed at intersections surrounding the Eisemann Center after the 2017 Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival has concluded. The sign toppers are part of the City’s welcome package for the pageant, now in its fourth year at the Eisemann Center. Pageant week for The Miss Texas and Miss Texas Outstanding Teen pageants begins June 24. Tickets are on sale at www.eisemanncenter.com. COR Gymnast Signs to Air Force Academy Gymnastics Team

She was part of a hoarding case in Royce City where several pets were removed from a dire living situation. Unfortunately, the Royce City Animal Shelter did not have the space to care for all of them, so they contacted us to help out. Sunnie has been with the Richardson Animal Shelter since February. She is about 4 years old, spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. Sunnie has a sweet disposition, but she is very shy and timid, mostly likely due to not being very socialized in her previous home. She is great with other dogs and needs a patient, loving home for her to flourish. Please come by and meet Sunnie today!
