Urban Naturalist: The Geology & Fossils of North Central Texas

Participants must register before attending any of the Richardson Urban Naturalist programs and each has a maximum number of participants of 25. Children are encouraged to attend and those under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. $5 registration for Adults 18 and over. The world around North Central Texas was much different thousands of years ago and those conditions shaped the way we live today including the plants we grow and the special considerations we observe when we build structures. Geologist Conrad Harrison will take us on a journey back in time to understand how our soils formed and identify fossils that are present in our region. We will visit the creek banks as well as the upland areas of Breckinridge Park as Conrad explains what we see today and how it relates to past events as well as view fossils large and small. Naturalists of all ages will enjoy this walk and bring a small magnifying glass if you have one for more detailed observations.
