Urban Naturalist: Butterflies of North Central Texas

Participants must register before attending any of the Richardson Urban Naturalist programs and each has a maximum number of participants of 25. Children are encouraged to attend and those under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. $5 registration for Adults 18 and over. North Central Texas is blessed with many beautiful and unique species of butterflies whose beauty graces our outdoors. Becky Rader will describe for us which of these butterfly species are year-round residents of our area and which migrate through. Each species is unique in its own way and special emphasis will be given to the Monarch butterfly and Richardson's efforts to help support and sustain a healthy Monarch population. The Monarchs migrate through our area twice a year and we hope to experience the spring migration on this walk as this species is moving from overwintering in Central Mexico on their way to northern regions. Becky will help us understand what we can do in your own landscape to help support a healthy environment for butterflies. All ages will enjoy this walk into the natural areas of Breckinridge Park.
