Urban Naturalist: Native Plant ID/Ethnobotany

Participants must register before attending any of the Richardson Urban Naturalist programs and each has a maximum number of participants of 25. Children are encouraged to attend and those under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. $5 registration for Adults 18 and over. Join Bob Richie on a walk to learn to identify native plants in the recently acquired acreage of Spring Creek Nature Area. From trees to grasses to "weeds", we will also learn about the historic uses for those plants and how they were used for medicine, food and shelter for thousands of years before we got here. Bob Richie is a Dallas native and amateur naturalist who raises bees, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs. Bob is a certified Texas Master Naturalist, Master Composter, Citizen Forester, Texas Stream Team Advanced Water Quality Monitor, John Bunker Sands Wetland Steward, Private Pilot and president of The Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association, Dallas's local honeybee club.
