Of course. The time you will spend at the shelter is a valuable part of keeping our dogs and cats socialized, clean and happy. Your efforts will assist us in maintaining a positive atmosphere and exceptional adoptions. Click here to find a list of activities that you may be involved in. All of these activities will be supervised by full time shelter staff. Remember, this is a working shelter and you must listen and take your direction from the senior staff and manager.

The animal shelter maintains an inventory of live capture humane box traps. These box traps are completely safe and are intended to confine and not injure the animal. Residents may reserve one of these box traps free of charge by contacting the shelter at 972-744-4480. These traps are useful for Feral Cats, Raccoons and Skunks. Traps are not intended for Opossums, Squirrels, or rodents. A valid picture ID is required to receive a trap.

The shelter is staffed and open to the public from 12-6 pm. Monday-Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the shelter is open to visitors from 12- 5 pm.

Animal Control Officers are on duty and available for service requests from 12- 6 pm. Monday-Friday and 12- 5 pm. Saturdays and Sundays.

For On-Call emergencies: 6 pm. -7 am. Monday-Sunday.

Holiday Schedule: 8 am-5 pm.
