Permit Fee Schedule

A building permit is required for all alterations to a structure including, but not limited to, moving existing walls, erecting new walls, modifications to plumbing, electrical or mechanical systems.

Provide completed permit application - Residential Building Permit Application

Two sets of the following are required for review:

  • Dimensioned before & after floor plans of the proposed structure. Include the following information: The immediate adjacent rooms with individual room uses labeled, egress sizes (windows/doors for bedrooms) and a written scope of work
  • A framing plan for any proposed structural changes; include all framing member sizing, spacing, clear spans & species. All conventional framing must demonstrate compliance with the 2021 International Residential Code or be appropriately engineered
  • Elevations or exterior side views of any portion of the structure which may be altered. Label all exterior materials. Masonry and siding percentages may be required
  • Complete fuel gas sizing plan for all appliances/appurtenances; include all gas appliances/appurtenances, total linear footage of gas piping, gas pipe sizing, individual appliance/ appurtenances BTU load & the total BTU load of the gas system

The building permit must be approved and posted at the property prior to any work commencing. All contractors must be registered to perform work in the City of Richardson.
