Patio Cover
Permit submittal requirements are as follows:

Provide completed permit application - Residential Building Permit Application and two sets of the following:

  • Plot plan of the property drawn to scale, include all existing structures and proposed patio cover. Include dimensions to property lines
  • Foundation plan - Lightweight patio covers may be supported with 3’ depth spot piers under each supporting post. All other patio covers must have the appropriate foundation plan, either meeting minimum city specifications or you may provide engineered foundation plans
  • A complete roof framing plan drawn to scale which must include all framing member sizing, spacing, clear spans & species. All conventional wood framing must demonstrate compliance with the 2021 International Residential Code or be appropriately engineered. For pre-fabricated covers, submit the engineered manufacturer's specifications for all the individual components & connection details
  • Elevations or exterior side views of the structure

The building permit must be approved and posted at the property prior to any work commencing. All contractors must be registered to perform work in the City of Richardson.
