How The Graffiti Abatement Program Works
The City of Richardson is committed to eliminating graffiti on public and private property in a timely manner and at no cost to its residents and business owners.

Any residential or commercial property owner can take advantage of the City’s free graffiti abatement service by submitting a graffiti abatement request for service to Community Services. Please call 972-744-4166 for additional information.

Owners who wish to utilize the free service will be required to sign an authorization form granting the City and its contractors permission to enter onto the property to inspect and eliminate the graffiti. 

Abatement techniques include soda or sand blasting, power washing, or in the event these techniques prove ineffective, painting over the graffiti with a color-matched paint.  Methods of elimination will vary depending upon the type and condition of the affected surface as well as the type of damage inflicted by the graffiti. The elimination method that will restore the affected surface most closely to its pre-graffiti condition will be used. Regardless of the method, every attempt will be made to remove the graffiti without damaging the surface it is on. 

If an owner chooses not to utilize the City’s free service, they will be required to remove the graffiti within 15 days. 

How You Can Help
It is a crime for any person, group, organization or club to apply graffiti on any property in the City. If you see graffiti being applied to property, call 9-1-1 and report it to the Richardson Police Department.
