The Prevention Section of the Richardson Fire Department is led by the Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal who oversees:

• Plans Review related to sites, buildings, and fire protection systems for new and renovated structures.
• Fire and life safety inspections and preplans of all occupancies in the city.
• Fire code and amended ordinances including adoption, education and enforcement.
• Fire Investigations to determine fire origin and cause, and criminal investigations.
• Fire and life safety education.
• Citizen Fire Academy and the Citizen Fire Academy Alumni Association.
