ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

The Richardson Parks and Recreation Department's Adaptive Recreation program offers recreational activities for individuals with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. We offer monthly special events and occasional field trips for adults, as well as year-round activities for children/youth and adult participants. These recreation programs provide a safe environment for socialization opportunities, respite for parents and caregivers, and learning experiences through a variety of activities. Most classes are held at Heights Recreation Center, 711 West Arapaho Road.

The City of Richardson's Parks and Recreation Department encourages people of all abilities to participate in the recreational activities that are of interest to them. We strive to enrich our community through innovative recreation and leisure experiences, and opportunities to increase life and leisure satisfaction. It is our goal that people achieve a more positive, independent leisure lifestyle while participating in all of the activities.
