Richardson, TX
Home MenuHow do I place an item on hold?
If an item is checked out, Richardson residents can place a hold request. Requests can be made through the online catalog by clicking the Request First Available Copy button when looking up a book, video, or CD. Hold requests can also be made with any of our Librarians at a service desk, or by telephone.
You will be notified that you have a hold ready for pickup if you have added your telephone number and/or email address to your Library Card account.
The Library also makes available a free notification service called LibraryELF . . . go online with your Richardson Public Library Card number and PIN number to sign up at libraryelf.com. When you have a hold available for pickup, LibraryELF will alert you with either a text message or an email, and will let you know of items that will be overdue soon, as well.
Items on hold are retained for four days; after that time, items move on to the next person in line, or are returned to the shelf. To ensure that you get them, please pick up your hold items within the allotted four-day period.
