Who can make an InterLibrary Loan request?

Any Richardson resident with a Richardson Public Library card in good standing.

How does InterLibrary Loan work?

When you make an InterLibrary Loan request, we request the item you want from libraries that own it. Once we receive it, you will be notified and can check your item out at the Circulation Desk.

How do I make a request?

There are several ways to request an InterLibrary Loan:

• Submit your request online using the ILL Request Form
• Fill out a request form at any Library Information Desk 
• Phone in your request at 972-744-4350

Before requesting an InterLibrary Loan, use the Library Catalog to check that the item is not available from Richardson Public Library.

What can I request? 

• Printed books, DVDs, and CDs published or released at least 6 months ago
• Copies of magazine or journal articles, book chapters or specific pages

We cannot request e-books, e-audiobooks, or entire reference or genealogy books.

You can have up to 6 active requests at a time. 

How long will it take to receive my request?

InterLibrary Loans usually arrive within 2 to 3 weeks; difficult-to-obtain items may take longer to arrive. You may check on the status of your request by emailing us at interlibrary.loan@cor.gov. 

How long can I check out the material?

The library lending us the item sets the due date. Typical checkout periods are at least three weeks from the item's arrival date. There are no renewals for InterLibrary Loan materials.

How much does InterLibrary loan cost?

InterLibrary Loan is a free service. Some lending libraries charge a small fee, but we will ask you before choosing that option.

Fees for overdue materials are $1.00 per day per item.

Fees for lost or damaged materials are set by the lending library.
