City Council reviewed and finalized the Public Art Master Plan in Spring 2015.

Key recommendations of the plan include:

• Carefully selecting public art projects that: reinforce the city’s design character, express the identity of Richardson’s neighborhoods, embrace the city’s diversification, engage people and display Richardson’s history.
• Identifying public art opportunities that speak to local identity and the city’s image
• The need for diversified funding sources for public art
• Input and involvement by the City Council, Cultural Arts Commission and key stakeholders in selecting future public art projects
• The importance of administrative guidelines to make sure that public art is representative of the community and continues to be conserved and maintained.

In 2016, the City of Richardson participated in the Arts and Economic Prosperity 5 Study conducted by the Americans for the Arts to document the economic impact of the arts. This research study is the fifth study over the past twenty years being conducted to measure the impact of arts spending on local jobs, income paid to local residents and revenue generated to local and state governments.
