Curtis Dorian was elected to represent City Council Place 1 in May 2023. Curtis has lived in Richardson over 20 years in District 1 and has been deeply rooted it the community. He is a member at First United Methodist Church Richardson and a member of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to being elected, he served as president of the Richland Park/Oaks Neighborhood Association for 12-years, commissioner for the Cultural Arts Commission for 8-years, board of directors for the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. He continues to serve and volunteering for Wildflower, Cottonwood, Network of Ministries, Richardson Police department, Richardson Fire Department.
Dorian is the president of Dorian Bahr Company. Curtis owns and operates his own interior design-architectural planning practice including turn-keyed construction services for design-build-remodeling and comprehensive land development for residential and commercial clients nationally. He studied interior design and architectural planning from the Art Institute and continued studies in architectural design at El Centro. Dorian’s company continues to support the arts and local community businesses and prides itself on hiring local businesses and supporting local talent.
He currently serves as Board of Directors for National Association-of Remodeling Industry-North Texas and National Co-Chair for Ethics & Bylaws Committee
He has been actively involved in the community and has served in Leadership Richardson board of Directors & Class Rep, Leadership Richardson (Class 34), Richardson Citizens Fire Academy (Class 24), Richardson C.A.R.E.S. Citizens Academy & Resource Education Series (Class 2), and the Richardson Citizens Police Academy (Class 42).
Curtis and his husband, Michael Bahr, have lived in Richland Park for 20 years, raised a daughter through the RISD school system and have 2 boxers; Topper & Braniff.
