The City of Richardson currently boasts more than 93 miles of trails across 1800 acres of park land and green space. In 2023, the City of Richardson completed the Parks and Recreation Open Space Master Plan with top priorities  including trail connections through out the city, to adjacent cities and adding additional seating and water fountains along the trails. By coordinating the trail system with on-street bicycle lanes, the city plans to connect parks, recreation centers and other areas of interest throughout the city. Enhancements to the trail systems will help make the trails a more useful and appealing avenue for transportation and exercise alike. Please consider assisting the City of Richardson through donations and sponsorships in the following areas:

Drinking fountains $5,000 - $6,000

Fountains will provide water for both residents and their pets, and will provide convenient spots for rest and refreshment. The Parks Department will work with the donor to select a suitable location for new fountains.

Benches $2,000

The addition of trailside benches helps create areas for rest or contemplation within the trail system. The Parks Department will work with the donor to select a suitable location.

Picnic tables $3,000

Picnic tables offer those visiting parks an opportunity to rest, visit and eat together while exploring.

Signage $2,500

Wayfinding and interpretive signage at primary trail crossings will visually depict trail connections, making it easier for travelers to navigate and explore. In addition, interpretive signs will provide educational highlights for various parks and trails to point out unique ecological elements that are found as well as education on Richardson’s history.

Dedication Trees starting at $250

Special landscaping can be designed into nodes at trail crossings or at other key points along the trail. Landscaping may be developed in conjunction with fountains, benches, and/or signage to create small public areas that enhance the overall appeal of the trail. The Parks Department will work with the donor to select a suitable location.

There are opportunities for these donations to be acknowledged by plaque or related signage.
