Emergency Medical Services is overseen by the Battalion Chief of EMS to whom two Captains and an EMS Continuing Education Coordinator report.

Richardson Fire Department currently has a total of five ambulances that respond using the EMS standard Advanced Life Support level. This ensures the highest level of emergency care and support.

All Richardson Fire Department personnel attend monthly continuing medical education classes. These classes cover specific medical conditions, medications, and new techniques. Classes also deal with issues such as medical/legal concerns, communication and documentation, and patient rights.

The Richardson Fire Department has repeatedly received the American Heart Associations' Mission: Lifeline Gold Plus Award.
