Station 4 - Technical Rescue

While each station is equipped to conduct basic rescue operations, there are situations where advanced technical rescue skills, techniques and equipment are required.  For the Richardson Fire Department, Station 4 responds to and resolves these extraordinary rescue emergencies.  Once assigned to Station 4, Department members are trained to the National Fire Protection Administration's highest rescue level (technician) in our four disciplines.  These rescue disciplines are rope, vehicle and machinery, confined space and swift water.  The apparatus assigned to Station 4 carry specialized equipment needed to conduct these challenging technical rescues.

Station 5 - Hazardous Materials

Throughout its borders, along its roadways and underground the City of Richardson has a very large Hazardous Materials footprint.  These hazardous materials, when in their containers or in normal use, contribute tremendously to the betterment of our community by heating our homes, propelling our industry, fueling our vehicles and training future engineers and scientists.  However, when unintentionally released from their containers or improperly used hazardous materials create an emergency that could cause tremendous damage to life, economy and the environment.  For the Richardson Fire Department, Station 5 responds to and helps resolve Hazardous Materials (HazMat) emergencies.  Once assigned to Station 5, members are trained to the highest Texas Commission on Fire Protection responder level, which is Technician.  These members are required to train above and beyond the regular department standards to be ready to respond to HazMat emergencies.  The Richardson Fire Department is also very active in providing mutual aid to neighboring cities on hazardous material emergency calls and enjoy a strong collaborative relationship with them.
