Community Engagement

Community Input is Essential!

Throughout 2022, there were numerous opportunities to share what you love and what you want to see changed about the active transportation network in Richardson. Below were the methods used to collect community thoughts on the project.

Community Survey

The City sought input for the Active Transportation Plan via an online community survey. The survey opened late-February 2022 through early-June 2022.

Paper copies of the survey were also available at the Richardson Library, including translations in Spanish and Vietnamese.

A summary of the survey results can be found in the Documents section above.

Interactive Mapping Tool

The City sought additional input via an interactive mapping tool. This online tool allowed users to comment on current and planned walking and biking routes as well as identify barriers, gaps, or opportunities in Richardson. Gaps or barriers could include missing sidewalk, missing ramps, maintenance issues, etc. – whatever makes you hesitant about or keeps you from walking and biking. Opportunities could include a desired route or connection that could improve your walking or biking experience.

Public Open House #1

The City of Richardson’s Transportation and Mobility Department and Parks and Recreation Department hosted meetings to gather public input on the Active Transportation Plan and the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan. The joint meetings were an initial opportunity for the public to provide feedback that was used to help develop the plans. Input gathered at this meeting paired with results from the online surveys to identify needs and priorities for the plan.
